Meteva Sport og Helse Announces Sponsorship for the Women's National Basketball Team

A Stand for Equality

Meteva Sport og Helse is proud to announce that we will be sponsoring the Norwegian Women’s National Basketball Team—and supporting the development of the women’s national team program as a whole. The importance of women’s equality is jointly shared with eight of Bergen’s basketball clubs, namely the Basketakademiet.

“We are putting equality into action,” says Louise Mohn, Founder of Meteva Sport og Helse and Basketakademiet. “We are here to say it loud and clear: Girls are just as important as boys. That’s why we are proud to sponsor and excited to help equality elevate across all aspects of basketball.”

Basketball is more than a sport - NBBF

We take this very seriously and value personal development, recognizing that all our national players are also students, workers, and parents. It is crucial to validate the player as a full and whole human being. Clear communication, stability and predictability in long-term strategies will lay the foundation for the collaboration between Meteva Sport og Helse and NBBF.

By supporting the Women’s National Team on their journey to the European Championships, this message is clear: equality in sports isn’t optional—it’s foundational. This is about sportsmanship, sports culture, opportunity, and raising the bar when it comes to gender equality in Norwegian basketball.

We also recognize that true equality in Norwegian basketball has not always been the reality. The women’s national program deserves the same professional treatment as their male counterparts - equal coaching competence, access to resources, and long-term development strategies from youth to senior programs.  It’s time to prioritize the recruitment and development of female coaches and ensure that every team benefits from quality support staff. For too long, girls and women in basketball have received less attention, poor communication, fewer resources, and limited recognition. We honor the patience, resilience, and passion of those who have carried the sport forward despite these imbalances and challenges. It’s important to name that lack of awareness for what it was—it was wrong—and it's our goal to ensure it doesn’t continue.

The time for change is now. At Meteva Sport og Helse, we are committed to being part of the solution and acknowledge the obstacles we need to overcome. We’re here to support girls in basketball and encourage leaders to reshape the system so that every female athlete has the same opportunity as their male peers.

To truly unlock the potential of equality in basketball, we must work to develop the structure of communication between the federation, clubs, players, and parents. Also to build an inclusive environment and framework for young people to thrive in. That requires responsible and secure adults who have a large window of tolerance, capable of meeting each child with patience, empathy, and emotional stability.

The women on the National team are elite athletes and visible leaders for the next generation. With support from the men’s national team, coaching staffs, and clubs across Norway, these women are helping set a new standard for inclusion and leadership in sport. By engaging directly with young girls and boys, youth coaches, referees, and local teams, these role models are building relationships and showing what representation in sport should look like—collaborative, community-based, and inclusive.

Let’s rally behind a new generation of athletes—including the talented Women’s National Team! Meteva Sport og Helse remains proudly committed to championing equality and advancing a sport culture where every child has a place.
