Compassion Is Contagious

There is a common thread among role models and volunteers: they’re like-minded in values and aligned with the best intentions. Some offer financial support. Others bring hands and heart. Everyone contributes something—and that collective act of giving becomes a kind of societal glue that just may be the answer to developing and strengthening our next generation.

That glue is a connection through shared values, service, and using one's own unique resources, skills, and heart for others. That was on full display on Saturday, May 10th in Bergen. The Oslo 3x3 event, launched in Bergen for the very first time, reflected more than just sports - it was an experience that united people of all ages, different sports clubs, and key community figures ready and willing to #ShowUp. Hosted by Oslo 3x3 and Basketakademiet, NextGen Neighbor Network (NNN), Meteva Sport og Helse, Trond Mohn Games (TMG), European Athletics U23 CHAMPIONSHIPS Bergen 2025 and Norsk Friidrettsforbund, the event represented a bold shift toward accessibility, inclusion, equality, and purpose. It was about belonging, saying no to drugs, and finding a path to participate in sports for teenagers who can’t commit to membership in a sports club. It’s also about building a community culture where every young person has the chance to be part of sports no matter their background, life situation, availability or family economical status.

The power of volunteering isn’t just in the act—it’s in the ripple effect. One person’s help inspires another. Through our non-profit, Meteva Sport og Helse and its initiatives Basketakademiet and NextGen Neighbor Network, our Founder, Louise Mohn is using her private resources to uplift, support, and connect volunteers and role models together for a better future and safer environment for the youth.

The NextGen Neighbor Network believes that coordinated local ecosystems—where schools, sports clubs, families, and health services work together—can identify, support, and lift up at-risk youth. It’s a three-step model: address, report, and repair simultaneously to reduce repercussions for the children and youth

“True role models remind people, every time you have the ability to support someone else’s growth or contribute to your community, you are passing on that thread of values and intentions that can make a significant change,” Louise Mohn says.

At Meteva Sport og Helse, it is part of our mission to get people to show up. Show up to volunteer, show up for our youth, show up to community events, and show up for support. Being of service is about being present, being part of a group in your community who really cares to make a difference, being accountable and fostering TRUST for the next generation.

There is TRUE POWER in presence and awareness.
